The only advice I would give to anyone going onto Metformin is, please allow 10 days to allow your body time to get used to it and I found that taking the tablets after food gave the best results.

I was taking 1 tablet a day with no effect on my blood sugars. This was increased to 2 a day and very quickly developed a reaction (allergic response?) - a severe skin rash on my feet and legs. Despite stopping metformin amost 3 months ago the rash is still a problem, and has since spread to my right hand & arm. I have been referred to a dermatologist ! I'm now on insulin.
